“What makes us unique, makes us extraordinary.”
Magazine Publishers of America (MPA) recognizes that the attributes that make an individual unique are crucial to making a magazine successful. For MPA and its members, “Diversity” is the act of valuing the unique talents and contributions of the industry’s workforce -- regardless of difference and/or similarity -- and harnessing this talent in way that adds a measurable yet invaluable difference to the industry’s overall performance.
MPA’s strategy - progressively implemented in three stages: (1) awareness, (2) retention, (3) and outreach and recruitment – supports the consumer magazine’s business case for equity and inclusion; calls for improvements in existing recruiting and retention systems; seeks to create advancement opportunities for the industry’s current resource of key talent into more visibly strategic roles; and positions that talent to be “ambassadors” - outreaching, attracting and recruiting future talent for the industry with the goal of making magazine publishing the “Industry of Choice”.
MPA, in its commitment to the principles of equal employment opportunity and diversity, develops initiatives to help all employees reach their full potential; serves as an educational and information resource to the industry; and supports an industry culture that encourages respect, trust, acceptance and teamwork.
MPA continues in its dedication to valuing and reflecting the unique qualities that every person in the industry has to offer. Top-line, bottom-line, pipeline – magazines engage across cultures.
